New Works: The Oyster Series Continues

Carlos will debut a new body of work in New Orleans this November. Details on the Gallery and the opening reception to come.

2010

The Oyster Series Begins

In the wake of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, Carlos turned to one of Louisiana's most recognizable symbols — the oyster shell — as the foundation for a body of work that's still evolving today.

2014

Cover Feature, Where New Orleans Magazine

"Oyster Art" put Carlos's shell paintings on the cover, introducing the series to a wider New Orleans audience alongside features in NOLA.com, Gambit, and Artsy Forager.

2016

"Art and Time" — A Studio Film

A short documentary look at Carlos's process, filmed in his New Orleans studio, offering a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into how a piece comes together.

2016

Solo & Group Exhibitions Across New Orleans

A steady run of shows — "Poetry and Landscapes," "Southern Delights," and more — cemented the oyster series as a recognizable presence in the city's gallery scene.

2025

Cover Feature, Country Roads Magazine

"Sweet and Spicy" landed the December 2025 cover — an oyster Carlos described as reminding him of twins, one side draped in kumquats, the other festooned with hot peppers from his garden.
